A Christmas Carol
Ages 3-9

The theatre’s first Christmas production. The story of the old miserly rich man Scrooge, who, after being visited by his past, present, and future, comes to his senses and shares his wealth.

The story was written in 1843 but is still highly relevant.

Teatret Lampe Carmen Casper Postkort Brug

Carmen and Casper
Ages 3-8

A minimalist performance for one actor. About not daring to do what you love – namely singing. The puppet Casper helps the puppeteer overcome their fear.

The performance is a further development of “Kasper and the Concert,” which was a one-off event in honor of the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop 2013, directed by Niels Grønne.

Premiere on 21.1.20 at Dansekapellet.

A love story on the border between Denmark and the world. About the human longing for contact confronted with society’s rules.

The Mole and the House that Came and Went
Ages 2-6

A mole lives underground but needs to come up for air occasionally. One day, a woman places a house on top of the mole’s breathing hole, causing trouble. A nature and culture clash that ends happily.

Danish/Pakistani project.

Premiere on 23.5.11 at Folketeatret, and we celebrated the theatre’s 20th anniversary at the same place on 25.11.12.

The Boy Who Was Born and Had to Go to School
Ages 4-10

A visual and whimsical comedy about the boy Oskar Valdemar, who suddenly appears in his parents’ lives dressed in a suit and ready to start school. A performance about living, learning, and playing!

Co-production with Limfjord Theatre.

Premiere on 13.9.08 at Limfjord Theatre and 28.9.08 at Folketeatret.

The Girl Who Went Away
Ages 7-11

About the girl who wants to be a poet and therefore must leave home and family. It becomes a journey of self-discovery through a wondrous, frightening, and humorous universe populated by quirky characters and enriching souls. A universe where wordplay, word magic, and poetry are the way forward and perhaps the way to find oneself.

Nikoline Werdelin’s first children’s play.

The Carpet
Ages 4-10

The fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel” with a modern frame of busy parents who just wish their children away so they can get their lives back from before they had kids. Happy ending, as children are the greatest thing in life.

Also offered as a joint performance for nursing homes and kindergartens.

The title is inspired by a painting by Cai Ulrik von Platen, which also adorns the poster, one of two posters hanging at the PosterMuseum in NY: www.postermuseum.com

The Steadfast Tin Soldier/Wish!
Ages 2-6

H.C. Andersen’s fairy tale told with his tools: pencil, scissors, and paper.

What happens when you wish? In our version of the fairy tale, it is the soldier’s love for the dancer that drives him to achieve what he wishes – a Buddhist idea that what you send out into the world will change it.

French Bread in Heaven
Ages 3-8

When Niels’ mother dies, he decides to find out where she is so he can give her the French bread sandwich she didn’t get to finish.

A warm and humorous performance about some children’s encounter with death, told with live music and the magic of puppets, kept down to earth in Bo hr. Hansen’s simple and poetic linguistic universe.

Co-production with Limfjord Theatre.

Premiere December 2002 at Limfjord Theatre.

Teatret Lampe Grimmeaelling

The Ugly Duckling
Ages 2-5

The wonderful fairy tale about the duckling that goes through so much before it finds out who it is and finds its place in life. The puppeteer is a kind of angel who helps the duckling through the trials but also has to let go at some point, as all parents must with their children.

Record tour with 138 performances in the 00/01 season and has played well over 1,000 performances now.

The performance is dedicated to the former chairman of the theatre, Kirsten Nøjgaard, born Lawaetz.

The Naughty Caroline
Ages 3-8

The story of the girl Caroline who does everything wrong, often out of curiosity and imagination.

Based on Suzanne Lassen’s book. Permission for dramatization granted by her son, Chamberlain Lassen, and daughter, Bente Bernstorff-Gyldensteen.

Award winner at the international children’s theatre festival “Banaanikala -98”, Tallinn, Estonia.

Premiere March 23, 1997, at the Danish Theatre.

A young guy crashes with his friends in the car after a night of drinking.

A controversial story about personal freedom and responsibility, told in the language of the young and without any mitigating varnish.

A strong and shocking monologue by Kåre Bluigten. Based on a short story by Kåre Bluigten.

Was H.C. Andersen really the son of King Christian VIII, as has been claimed?

We juggle facts and fairy tales and let a fatherless shoemaker’s boy boast that his unknown father is noble. Through a series of complications, the young man’s boasting leads to him being made king of the country, and we experience his problems living happily ever after.

Premiere March 11, 1996, at Indre Bys Medborgerhus.

Collaboration project “Hans Christian and Søren” supported by Culture City ’96 and the Theatre Council.

The Hot Air Balloon
Ages 6 and up

Natasja is working on inventing a machine that can make her and her sister Bella rich and famous. The work on the machine is far from trouble-free, and Bella would rather water her plant and dream of Paris. One day, an unknown man appears, and their world changes.

A humorous performance about dreams and their realization.

Premiere September 15, 1995.

Office lady Esmeralda is on her way to work when her briefcase suddenly comes to life and leads her away from daily duties and into a wondrous garden. Here she meets her old cat Egon and relives the day her busy parents completely forgot about her.

The Horse, the Sea, and the Sky
Ages 1 1/2-4

The fairy tale about the little, stubborn white horse Fine, who travels out into the big world to find her friend, the little yellow bird. In the spring, a strange black horse arrives with a big ship, maybe it knows the answer…

A poetic performance with puppets, song, and music.

Teatret Lampe Til Dig

For You
Ages 1 1/2-4

Two small people meet somewhere in the world. They are in a hurry. One has three things that she can make into anything. The other has a mountain of things but only wants the three things the first has. The first does not want to give up her things. In the end, they meet.

A friend does not have to be a person; a thing can also be a friend. A coffee pot, a piece of cloth, a pacifier are transformed into all sorts of things in the performance. Fragments from “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and “A Friend is Someone Who Likes You” by Joan Walsh Anglund are used.

Premiere May 1991, at Haraldsgårdens Vuggestue.

The performance is dedicated to midwife Oddvør Lomstein.

Teatret Lampe Pick Up Show

Pick Up Show
Ages 15 and up

Performance that mixes sex work and art purchase.

“Miss Ann dances for you. The more you pay, the greater the experience.”

She is a living jukebox. The audience chooses dances on the light board, with titles such as: Synnøve, Roligans, War I, Hope, French, Your Wish. A political dance performance.

Premiere January 24, 1991, at Galleri Projekt.
